Week 22:
This was the first week Jordan actually felt Conrad move-for real!
It was so neat when he finally realized how it felt, now he can't
get enough.
We also REGISTERED !! We decided to registered at:
BuyBuyBaby and Babies'RUs
Man-there is a LOT of stuff you need when having a baby...its a little
overwhelming;) Jordan was nice to go with me the first day...however,
I lost him after about 5 minutes, only to find him an hour later in one of the
gliders in the back of the store on his iPad. Needless to say, he's not
into baby stores past the cute clothes:) haha.
We had a fun time doing it overall, and getting dinner after together
was nice.
The next day he went to ikea with me so we could get Conrad's
changing table!! Jordan's honey do list this week included doing the
main things in the nursery I couldn't do: putting together
the changing table, and painting.
Here is the changing table he put together
(not with final decorations, just stuff I threw on there for the picture;)
You guessed it-the Ikea Expedit (in glossy white)
with the 4 drawer inserts and legs put on it.
I love this piece, b/c it can be used for so long. We can add
drawers or take away from any of the cubbies, and we can turn it
upright to turn into a bookshelf, or fill it with bins for a play organizer-so
many options, and the price was right.
(PS I also love our changing pad from BRU, it has the fun little toy
bar to distract them and "make changing fun" as the box said:)

I just threw some stuff on here (literally) after he put it together, it
doesn't look like this anymore...
The painting began the next day and we knew we wanted to do an accent wall.
Since we are moving in 2 years, we didn't want to do too much
so that seemed the best fit.
We loved the idea of 2 ombre stripes and a grey wall.
For any of those interested in the best way to do this, we
had some help from his grandma, home depot and the internet,
so here is what we found that worked!
Here's what we did, I mean, what Jordan did! He did all of it
over a span of 2 days.
First he painted the whole wall grey.
super fun.
After the grey dried (he did 2 coats) he used a meter level
(Jordan said this was a must for this job! Made it go faster)
He penciled in where to put up the tape for the entire width and length
we wanted both stripes.
Ours are about 18" tall, 9" for each stripe.
Then, using Mod Podge you paint against the tape in strokes,
so that the orange paint can't bleed through the tape and onto your main wall
color. This was very helpful, and really made the stripes look perfect! Plus it was
only $4.99 for the little bottle at Hobby Lobby. (Compared to the expensive tape seal we found
it was a way easier solution!)
After that dries you do the lighter color first to cover the entire length of the stripes.
We did 2 coats and let it dry:
Then you will put up the next line of tape where you want the 2nd line, put the Mod Podge
on again, and paint the darker stripe where you want it:
After that is completely dry....(we did 2 coats) then voila!
You peel off the tape and see your perfect lines!!

NEXT:
We inherited this dresser from a friend of ours, Jeff Wallace, when we
were helping him move about 4 years ago. I had been using it for work stuff,
clothes, etc. I thought it would be great in the nursery, so Jordan painted it with
spray paint a dark grey to match the crib.
Sadly, I couldn't really see the cute grey animal
(orange ones are from there too)
So, once we got it in the room, and it was too dark against the white wall
we decided to go over every other drawer with the light grey from the accent wall.
..but, unfortunately, over that dark grey, it turned out more white.
Either way, I still love it!
And the knobs really stick out better now to me;)

This was late at night the 2nd day-he was finally done and we could clean
up and put the crib up next to it to see how it looked!
He was glad to be done, and proud of his work-and I was too.
(PS no he did not intentionally match his clothes to the wall..haha)
I took this the next day with better lighting:
I love the way it all turned out. This is the view you see from the doorway when you walk by the
room- I love the pop of color with the crib right there
as a constant reminder of our bundle of joy coming soon!
Now I'm motivated to set up the rest of the nursery.
Jordan and I were talking later that evening about how its interesting
to think of how much effort we, as parents, go to make the nursery look
great for our babies, and yet, they don't have any idea of how much work
went into it, nor will they remember or know what it even looked like.
(I'm sure our parents reading this now are thinking the same thing)
Except, I guess now we have blogs, internet, etc to make sure they see it-
Or that's our hope, right:) No, actually, its more for us, its our way of "nesting"
and getting us excited for the baby coming. (In my opinion anyway)
Week 23:
This week Jordan had to go back to Galveston to do his orientation
for 3rd year medical rotations. Basically the 3rd and 4th year
of medical school you do rotations, inpatient and outpatient in
all the major fields to expose you to everything so you can decide
what you want to do (as well as learn about everything;)
Then 4th year, when you are finishing up the rotations, you are
also applying to residencies and you find out where you "matched"
in the Spring of 4th year before graduation.
So, all that to say, he had some fun going back to Galveston being
with his med school friends and getting to just hang out without all
the studying!! Kind of funny though, the Pleasure Pier that they
started building when we moved there was finally done-so
they went and had a good ol time there...I got some picture
messages, that I saved for this very moment:) haha!
This is what happens when to these grown men when they have to study for 6 months
straight and finally set free...without wives or girlfriends around:
wow. this is TJ, Brazos, (J) and Josh
and the random picture text messages continued.....lol.
He came back on Wednesday night, and we left for Dallas again
on Friday!
We went for a few reasons...
1. to see family!
2. for Zeus' follow up appointment (I'll explain in a sec)
3. Elizabeth's Baby Shower
4. To see Gabe's final baseball game

About Zeus:
A month ago Jordan was playing with Zeus and he jumped up
pretty high and landed wrong on his back leg and seriously damaged it-
so much to where he couldn't walk, or do anything like
run, jump, etc. He managed to tear the large tendon of his knee, removing his knee
cap from where it actually "goes" and also turning his tibia in towards his body.
Our vet, Dr. Pippin, at The Animal Care Center in Duncanville where we used to
live is still by far our favorite vet. They have a great Christian atmosphere there,
and their prices are always better than what I have found. So much so, that we go
out of our way to take our dogs there for their medical needs.
Anyway, so Zeus had surgery to replace the torn tendon with fishing line (weird right?), a deeper
groove cut out for his knee cap to securely stay in place and then they
put a pin in to keep his tibia where it needed to stay-(to be removed later)
He was one bandaged up little guy!
(this was taken the day of his surgery last month, but its the only pic I have of his scar)
This weekend he got his sutures taken out!
this whole surgery turned into a big ordeal when he got pressure sores
on his leg. It was a nightmare, that lasted way longer than we had hoped.
He is finally on the end of it now and back to his normal self!
Whew!
But I cannot say enough about the vet clinic, how helpful they
were, (letting us call anytime with questions-which we did when
his leg was lookin gnarly) and nice through this whole process.
Good thing I did that garage sale back in May, right? lol.
Anyway, here we are at Gabe's game:
It was nice to see Jordan's Aunt Beth and cousin Lindsey who
were visiting from Michigan there too (forgot to take pics with them;(

At Elizabeth and Paul McGaha's Twins Baby Shower Saturday:
Paul is in Jordan's class at UTMB, and Elizabeth and I have gotten to know
each other very well over the past year. They live in Pasadena, TX and he is
doing his rotations in Houston. The shower, thankfully, was in McKinney:)
Both Elizabeth and I found out we were pregnant at the same time,
and had the same due date!
(until she found out she has TWINS!
which moved hers up a little;)

They are having 2 twin girls: Hadley and Hailey
