of course I'm going to blog about this...

SO this weekend started off a little early, I guess you could say. On Tuesday evening I went to the library and got the book 'twilight'...I just couldn't take it anymore. All the hype was so great, from a lot of my 'reputable' sources. I hadn't seen the movie yet b/c I was waiting to read the book....
I brought the book with me on my trip that I was leaving on Wednesday afternoon to San Antonio for the annual Texas Music Educators Conference. I knew I would have some 'down time' in the hotel room and during the traveling there and back-so I was glad to have a new 'exciting' book. I was looking forward to all the clinicians I would get to learn from at the classes and all the things I would get to see and buy at the exhibit halls at TMEA. I learned a lot of really good information about things I can and NEED to implement in my classroom. I also got to buy a lot of great stuff, and get to know the peeps in my room better=) This is what the exhibit halls look like. Yea its huge, and they are on BOTH sides of the SA convention center.
I got a lot of walking in on my trip and a LOT of reading=) I'm sure I drove my 'roommates' crazy b/c I was constantly reading in the hotel room. The book was just THAT good. So much suspense it really had you hooked. I finally finished the book Saturday morning on my way back to Dallas. Now-this is Valentine's day. I wasn't expecting much from Valentine's Day this year.  I knew I had been gone the last few days and Jordan and I had volunteered to do the 'child care' at our church's fundraiser Valentine's Dinner-and that was going to take up most the evening, leaving no real time to go out and do anything alone. But in the back of my mind, of course, there was wishful thinking, but no expectations. I will say, when I got home from my trip I thought I would walk in and there would be flowers, but again, no expectation, so when I walked in an they ceased to exist-I was a little bummed, but ok with it. We had some good time together, but not much before we went up to the church to help for the dinner. Jordan and I had a good time babysitting the kids. The decorating of the church was SO romantic. It was so cute to see all the couples dressed up. I will say it was hard to not think, 'aw I wish that we could be all cute and dressed up doing something romantic'..but then I thought, 'well I am glad we get to watch these kids for people that don't have the chance to go out whenever they want'. Jordan tried to take a pic of me while babysitting and I just wasn't having it:
They brought us some of the food they were serving at the dinner into the nursery for us to eat. Jordan said 'not to eat the food'. I was like, ok??? why not I'm starving! He said 'it just wasn't good'-I was like, whatever, this looks good, I'm eating it, and I started to take a bite. Then he goes-no I want to take you to dinner after this, it was supposed to be a surprise. Then I felt bad and sad at the same time, bittersweet if you will=) And excited, although going out to eat ON Valentine's Day at 9pm withOUT reservations or a plan seemed a little difficult at the time.....I still was enthralled by the gesture.
When we got home from the babysitting, it was about 9pm. I decided it was as good a time as any to give Jordan my Vday gifts. Instead of making him a card, I gave him a series of origami with the gifts 'inside' of them!=) haha, kinda cute. I gave him a bunch of little things ranging from a book I thought he would like about science to cute Vday boxers from American Eagle-again, all done with origami. Jordan said it we should get ready to go, but he wanted to shower first. After he got out I went, when I got out of the shower Jordan came in and said, 'here is the book you really want to read next. After you get ready, lay down and read this book and DON'T come out of the room until I say ok?" I looked at him and he had already gotten dressed up while I was showering. A little confused, I honored his wishes and blithefully got ready, then sat to read New Moon-the next book in Twilight series:  =)
As I was going through my routine, I heard a series of thumping, clicking, stepping, and other cooking noises coming from the other room. I wasn't quite sure what was going on, but I was starting to get an idea when I heard the blender come on....About 40 min later Jordan came back into our bedroom. He said he was ready, and he opened our bedroom door to reveal what was going on in the living room. There, by the fireplace (which had a fire going, by the way) was the most romantic setting I could have imagined. Jordan had put together an entire meal. There was a dozen luscious red roses, the fire, candles lit all around, and a quaint little sweetheart table covered in fine linens with the fine china I had just received for my birthday. I couldn't help but have tears to my eyes, I was so completely surprised and flattered. I hadn't suspected he was doing anything to this magnitude. (I took a pic of the China later without food on it=):
As you can see from the picture, he did a wonderful job! He had moved the furniture out of the way, gotten a smaller little table for us to be by the fire, and cleaned up! Our first 'official' Valentine's day that we could celebrate was 7 years ago! On that first Valentine's day Jordan had done this very thing for me, but it was at his parents house. It seemed like forever ago, so it was extra special that he had done the same tonight. He even had the same food (it was SOOO good) and Jordan never cooks, so it was a special treat ;)
I took a picture of him, but he made that goofy face, oh well=) You can see the yummy food better here. It is a chicken salad with a homemade sauce, sooooo incredibly good. He said he got up that morning extra early to make all the food before I got there and clean up the house, and get flowers, etc. so I wouldn't know. I was so surprised!
After our romantic dinner, (and some crying...ha) Jordan brought out dessert....
He cut two hearts out of brownies and served them with ice cream! VERY creative, and oh so scrumptious!!!
Then, the icing on the cake-and the most unexpected part came. After the dessert he told me to sit on the couch. He went upstairs and got his guitar and came down with a song in hand. He had written me a song. It's very meaningful when Jordan writes me a song b/c it is kind of an open window into his heart and how he feels about me. This song is called: 'Meaning to the Sun'. I think I loved the melody and the guitar instrumentation the best on this song...it was so beautiful, and all the romantic tones in the room definetely helped. Jordan has written me 2 songs previous to this one. The first was on our one year (dating) anniversary back in '02 that was very near and dear to my heart-and the next was on our 4 yr (dating) anniversary before we got married in '05. I guess I get one every 4 yrs now;) They are both very special songs, but this one was very romantic and beautiful...I couldn't help but tear up, and of course actually cry while he was singing-It helps that he has a beautiful voice....you would cry too=) Jordan doesn't 'usually' write songs, he does not claim that 'gift'-so writing one for me is difficult for him, and they are usually the only songs he ever does write-making them all that more unique and meaningful.
So, all-in-all it was a perfect Valentine's Day after all=) I am sorry it took sooo long to explain, but I wanted to give him all the credit he deserved for all his hard work and planning he did=) I also wanted to document it for myself. Oh and to top off the weekend, Jordan knew I loved twilight SO much that he took me today (Sunday) to see the movie!!! I wanted to see it on a big screen before it left all theaters. I enjoyed it very much-it was kind of weird to see the 'differences' the movie had from the book, but still nice to put faces on characters I am reading about.....can't wait till the next one comes out and I can see it with my wonderfull hubby=):
Bottom line is, Jordan is the BEST and I love him so very much!!! The end=)
