Introducing..Conrad Mason Carl

Conrad Mason Carl

Born: October 4th, 2012
at 6:25am
Weighing 7 lbs 2 oz.
Length 20 1/4th inches
Delivered at: St. David's Women's Center of Texas

We are so thrilled to introduce our new baby boy. It was a long road
of pregnancy, labor and delivery (the birth story I will post another time;)
but he finally made it here after 36 hours of labor!! He was WELL worth it,
as you can see, he is just the cutest!!!!
At the hospital we delivered at they have a photographer that
comes around to the rooms in post partum and takes some shots
of the baby for you. I was so thrilled at how they turned out.
He weighs about 6 lbs. 9 oz here as he's about 3 days old in these pictures-
ENJOY!!

Weeks 35 + 36 = The End!

35 Weeks:

I had a doctors appointment this week to check in.
He wants to see how things look next week at the growth scan
and then we will be making decisions on when to induce from there.
After the appointment we stayed for the newborn care class, lots of
great information! We also did the hospital tour on Saturday.
It made it feel so real to be looking at the rooms we'll be delivering in..
I feel a lot better now knowing where to go, what to expect, etc. Especially
with it getting so close!!

Still on bed rest....trying to stay positive!

Jordan brought home some flowers for me-so beautiful!!
He's such a great husband:)

Finishing up putting together Conrad's things:

the monitor...
(we choose the Summer Infant Video Monitor)

the bouncer:
(Fisher Price Snug a Bunny)

I made a pillowcase for the hospital, I wanted to use my favorite
pillow, and thought it would be a good way to have something fun in there
+help me not forget it!!;)

Jordan's been doing such a great job making food-yum yum!

Bella is so curious about the big belly that kicks her:) lol!

36 Weeks:
We went to the doctor Wednesday, (Sept 26th)
it was nice to get out of the house, even if it was just to the doctor;)

The growth scan came back that Conrad weighs an estimated 7 lbs 3 oz!!
What a big boy at 36 weeks!! We could see him breathing (practice of course)
on the ultrasound as well as him being in the right position for delivery-
thank goodness!

After the scan, and discussing my health issues with the doctor
(BP still high, more protein in my urine and platelets were dropping)
The doctor also checked me and confirmed
I was not dilated at all, at this point, and made note that I had a narrow pelvis.
Although, he said, that is pretty hard to gage for accuracy, we won't know
until it comes time to deliver if I will have a problem fitting him through.

With all these factors, we all thought it best to induce earlier than later before
things got even worse, and in the interest of his size/my pelvis.
I felt confident about it, especially after seeing him on the ultrasound and
knowing he's in the 88th percentile for size, he had the steroid shots and
I will be term next week.
We made the induction date for October 2nd (tuesday night)
the day I turn 37 weeks! He will be a late preterm baby, but
we are pretty confident he will be just fine, lots of prayers about it though,
its still kind of scary since you never know what might happen.

Here's my last sticker pick with the weeks on it, (taken when we got home
from the doctor)
next week (37 weeks) I will be at the hospital!!

That Friday (September 28th) my mom was in town
helping me with last minute things before the baby comes.
I started having some serious swelling on my right foot only. It had
a red rash-like look and was starting to tingle.
My blood pressure was higher than normal and i was worried about my foot.
I was reading online it could be DVT (deep vein thrombosis-clot in the leg).
I called the doctors office, he wanted me to go into L&D to get it checked out.

It was kind of scary, esp since they said they might induce that night if my
blood pressure doesn't stabilize. My mom drove me up and
Jordan got off work early to meet me there (it was around 4).

Luckily my BP stabilized and they did an ultrasound doppler on my
legs to check for clots and they were fine.
We were discharged around 7:00pm

The ultrasound tech was so nice he let us get a sneak peak at baby..
who was now sunny side up-hoping he turns over by Tuesday:)

Not feeling so lovely in the gown...but happy I can go home:)

That weekend Jordan and I just hung out together, and did some
last minute things for the induction Tuesday.
Saturday afternoon Jordan's grandparents and Uncle Keith and Aunt Becca Lowery stopped
by to say hi! They brought some cherry pie that was divine.
It was fun to show them the nursery, and they prayed over us and Conrad on Tuesday,
it meant a lot!

I made sure my hospital and diaper bag were ready, and
we took some pictures of Conrad's nursery.

Comfy cute robe for the hospital:

Diaper bag/and outfits, etc:)

Just a couple days until induction!!

Cant wait to meet him, but definitely nervous about everything.
Lots of prayer!!
